Fund Description: SPDR S&P Global Dividend ETF is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF that is a separate investment portfolio of the SPDR Index Shares Fund, an open-end management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The SPDR S&P Global Dividend ETF seeks to provide investment results that, before fees and expenses, correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the S&P Global Dividend Aristocrats Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The S&P Global Dividend Aristocrats Index is designed to measure the performance of high dividend-yield companies included in the S&P Global BMI (Broad Market Index) that have followed a managed-dividends policy of increasing or stable dividends for at least ten consecutive years. In addition to the annual rebalancing, the Index is rebalanced on the last business day in July by implementing the following changes: i) the weight for each Index constituent is capped at 3% and the weight of each GICS sector and country in capped at 25%; ii) any index constituent which has omitted it most recent dividend is removed and replaced by the eligible stock with the highest dividend yield. Countries covered in the Index have historically included, among others, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States. As of April 30, 2013, the Index was comprised of 99 securities. FUND STRATEGY: Under normal market conditions, the Fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the Index or in American Depositary Receipts or Global Depositary Receipts based on securities comprising the Index. In addition, the Fund may invest in securities that are not included in the Index (including common stock, preferred stock, depositary receipts and shares of other investment companies), cash and cash equivalents or money market instruments, such as repurchase agreements and money market funds. In seeking to track the performance of the Index, the Fund employs a sampling strategy, which means that the Fund is not required to purchase all of the securities represented in the Index. Instead, the Fund may purchase a subset of the securities in the Index in an effort to hold a portfolio of securities with generally the same risk and return characteristics of the Index. The quantity of holdings in the Fund will be based on a number of factors, including asset size of the Fund. The investment adviser generally expects the Fund to hold less than the total number of securities in the Index, but reserves the right to hold as many securities as it believes necessary to achieve the Fund’s investment objective. FUND MANAGEMENT: SSgA FM serves as the investment adviser to the Fund.
