Fund Description: Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF, formerly Vanguard Total Stock Market VIPERs, is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of the Vanguard Index Funds, an open-end investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF seeks to provide investment returns that closely correspond to the price and yield performance of the CRSP US Total Market Index, formerly MSCI US Broad Market Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The CRSP US Total Market Index is comprised of nearly 4,000 constituents across mega, large, small and micro capitalizations, representing nearly 100% of the U.S. investable equity market. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund employs an indexing investment approach designed to track the performance of the Index. The Fund invests by sampling the Index, meaning that it holds a broadly diversified collection of securities that, in the aggregate, approximates the full Index in terms of key characteristics.
