Fund Description: Invesco Municipal Trust, formerly the Invesco Van Kampen Municipal Trust, formerly the Van Kampen Municipal Trust, is an exchange-traded closed-end fund or a closed-end ETF that is officially described as a diversified, closed-end management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The Invesco Municipal Trust seeks to provide a high level of current income exempt from federal income tax, consistent with preservation of capital. TRUST STRATEGY: The Trust seeks to achieve the investment objective by investing primarily in municipal securities that are rated BBB or higher by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) or Baa or higher by Moody’s at the time of purchase. Municipal securities include long-term obligations (municipal bonds), short-term municipal notes, participation certificates, municipal leases, and tax-exempt commercial paper. The Trust may also invest in securities rated BB/Ba or B by S&P, Moody’s or Fitch. It may invest up to 20% of its assets in unrated securities. The Trust invests in sectors, such as hospital; general purpose; bridge; tunnel and toll road; airports, and utilities.
