PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bearish Fund
Fund Description: Invesco DB US Dollar Index Bearish Fund, formerly PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bearish Fund seeks to track changes, whether positive or negative, in the level of the Deutsche Bank US Dollar Index (USDX) Futures Index - Excess Return, or the Index, over time, plus the excess, if any, of its corresponding Master Fund’s interest income from its holdings of United States Treasury and other high credit quality short-term fixed income securities over the expenses of each Fund and its corresponding Master Fund.
INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Index, which is managed by DB Commodity Services LLC, is a rules-based index composed solely of short USDX futures contracts. The USDX futures contract is designed to replicate the performance of being short the US Dollar against the following currencies: Euro, Japanese Yen, British Pound, Canadian Dollar, Swedish Krona and Swiss Franc. The Index Currencies represent the currencies of the major trading partners of the U.S. (and represent the currencies of 17 countries, 12 countries of the Euro zone plus five other countries). The Short Index reflect the changes in market value over time, whether positive or negative, of the DX Contract which expires during the months of March, June, September and December. The Index derive their investment decisions from methodologies that incorporate technically advanced and robust institutional investment research. The use of short positions in DX Contracts in the construction of the Short Index causes the Short Index to rise as a result of any downward price movement in the DX Contracts. In turn, this appreciation in the short DX Contracts reflects the fall of the U.S. dollar relative to the underlying basket of Index Currencies which comprise the USDX.
FUND STRATEGY: The Fund seeks to track changes in its respective Index plus the interest income from the fund’s holdings of U.S. Treasury securities less the fund’s expenses. The Fund will pursue its investment objective by investing substantially all of its assets in a corresponding Master Fund. The Bearish Master Fund will seek to track the Short Index by establishing short positions in DX Contracts. The Shares are designed for investors who want a cost-effective and convenient way to invest in a currency futures contract on a currency index that reflects the changes in market value over time, whether positive or negative, of the DX Contracts, and in turn, of the U.S. dollar relative to the Index Currencies.
FUND MANAGEMENT: Invesco Capital Management LLC serves as the investment adviser to the Fund.
