Fund Description: Direxion Daily Technology Bear 3X Shares is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of the Direxion Shares ETF Trust, an investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: Direxion Daily Technology Bear 3X Shares seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 300% of the inverse (or opposite) of the price performance of the Technology Select Sector Index, formerly the Russell 1000 Technology Index. The Fund seeks daily leveraged investment results and does not seek to achieve its stated investment objective over a period of time greater than one day. The Fund is designed to be utilized only by knowledgeable investors who understand the potential consequences of seeking daily leveraged investment results, understand the risks associated with the use of leverage and are willing to monitor their portfolios as frequently as daily. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Technology Select Sector Index includes domestic companies from the following industries: computers and peripherals; software; diversified telecommunications services; communications equipment; semiconductors and semiconductor equipment; internet software and services; IT services; electronic equipment, instruments and components; wireless telecommunication services; and office electronics. The Index is one of nine Select Sector Indexes developed and maintained in accordance with the following criteria: (1) each of the component securities
in the Index is a constituent company of the S&P 500 Index; (2) each stock in the S&P 500 Index is allocated to one and only one of the Select Sector Indexes; and (3) the Index is calculated by Standard & Poor’s, the Index Provider, using a modified market capitalization methodology, which is a hybrid between equal weighting and conventional capitalization weighting with the weighting capped for the largest stocks included in the Index. This design ensures that each of the component stocks within a Select Sector Index is represented in a proportion consistent with its percentage with respect to the total market capitalization of such Select Sector Index. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund, under normal circumstances, creates short positions by investing at least 80% of its net assets in: futures contracts; options on securities, indices and futures contracts; equity caps, collars and floors; swap agreements; forward contracts; short positions; reverse repurchase agreements; exchange-traded funds (ETFs); and other financial instruments that, in combination, provide leveraged and unleveraged exposure to the Index. The Fund invests the remainder of its assets in short-term debt instruments that have terms-to-maturity of less than 397 days and exhibit high quality credit profiles, including U.S. government securities and repurchase agreements. The Fund does not invest in equity securities. The Fund may gain exposure to only a representative sample of the securities in the Index that have aggregate characteristics similar to those of the Index. The Fund gains this exposure by investing in a combination of financial instruments that, in combination, provide exposure to the securities of the Index. At the close of the markets each trading day, the Advisor positions the Fund’s portfolio so that its exposure to the Index is consistent with the Fund’s investment objective. The impact of the Index’s movements during the day will affect whether the Fund’s portfolio needs to be re-positioned. FUND MANAGEMENT: Rafferty Asset Management, LLC serves as the Fund’s investment adviser.
