Fund Description: iShares U.S. Tech Breakthrough Multisector ETF is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of the iShares Trust, an open-end investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The iShares U.S. Tech Breakthrough Multisector ETF seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the NYSE FactSet U.S. Tech Breakthrough Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The NYSE FactSet U.S. Tech Breakthrough Index measures the performance of U.S. listed companies engaged in cutting edge research and development of products and services in the areas of robotics and artificial intelligence, cyber security, cloud and data tech, financial technology, and genomics and immunology. Companies selected must belong to one of the five aforementioned thematic segments and must meet the eligibility requirements of that segment to which the company is classified as defined by the FactSet Revere Business Industry Classification Systems (RBICS). All eligible securities that have been assigned to one of the five themes must also be primarily listed in one of the four U.S. exchanges: NYSE, NYSE American, NASDAQ or CBOE. All eligible securities must also be incorporated in the U.S. Finally, all remaining securities must also have a minimum float-adjusted market capitalization of $500 million or greater, and a three-month ADTV of $2 million or greater on the Reference Date. The Index will be reviewed and reconstituted annually. The Index may include large-, mid- or small capitalization companies. In addition, certain companies included in the Index may also operate in business lines other than the theme to which they are assigned that also generate revenue in other industries. FUND STRATEGY: A passive or indexing approach is used to try to achieve the Fund’s investment objective. Unlike many investment companies, the Fund does not try to beat the index it tracks and does not seek temporary defensive positions when markets decline or appear overvalued. Indexing may eliminate the chance that the Fund will substantially outperform the Index but also may reduce some of the risks of active management, such as poor security selection. Indexing seeks to achieve lower costs and better after-tax performance by keeping portfolio turnover low in comparison to actively managed investment companies. The Adviser, BFA, uses a representative sampling indexing strategy to manage the Fund. Representative sampling is an indexing strategy that involves investing in a representative sample of securities that collectively has an investment profile similar to the Index. The securities selected are expected to have, in the aggregate, investment characteristics (based on factors such as market capitalization and industry weightings), fundamental characteristics (such as return variability and yield) and liquidity measures similar to those of the Index. The Fund may or may not hold all of the securities in the Index. The Fund generally will invest at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the Index and may invest up to 10% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents, including shares of money market funds. FUND MANAGEMENT: BlackRock Fund Advisors (BFA) serve as the investment advisor to the Fund.
