Fund Description: VanEck Vectors Global Alternative Energy ETF, formerly The Market Vectors - Global Alternative Energy ETF, is an investment portfolio of the VanEck Vectors ETF Trust, an open-end investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The VanEck Vectors Low Carbon Energy ETF seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the Ardour Global Index (Extra Liquid). INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Ardour Global Index (Extra Liquid) is a rules based index intended to give investors a means of tracking the overall performance of a global universe of listed companies engaged in the alternative energy industry. The Index (Composite) is a modified capitalization weighted, float adjusted index. The Index is intended to track the overall performance of low carbon energy companies which are those companies primarily engaged in alternative energy which includes power derived principally from bio-fuels (such as ethanol), wind, solar, hydro and geothermal sources and also includes the various technologies that support the production, use and storage of these sources. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund normally invests at least 80% of its total assets in stocks of low carbon energy companies. Such companies may include small- and medium-capitalization companies and foreign issuers. “Low carbon energy companies” refers to companies primarily engaged in alternative energy, including renewable energy, alternative fuels and related enabling technologies (such as advanced batteries). Alternative energy refers to the generation of power through environmentally friendly sources that can replace or supplement traditional fossil-fuel sources and that may reduce the global carbon footprint. It includes power derived principally from bio-fuels (such as ethanol), wind, solar, hydro and geothermal sources and also includes the various technologies that support the production, use and storage of these sources. The Fund, using a passive or indexing investment approach, attempts to approximate the investment performance of the Index by investing in a portfolio of securities that generally replicates the Index. Unlike many investment companies that try to beat the performance of a benchmark index, the Fund does not try to “beat” the Ardour Global Index and does not seek temporary defensive positions when markets decline or appear overvalued. Indexing may eliminate the chance that the Fund will substantially outperform the Index but also may reduce some of the risks of active management, such as poor security selection. Under normal market conditions, the Fund intends to invest at least 30% of its assets in the securities of non-U.S. companies located in at least three different countries. The Fund is classified as a non-diversified. FUND MANAGEMENT: Van Eck Associates Corporation is the investment adviser to the Fund.
