Fund Description: LMP Capital and Income Fund, formerly the Salomon Brothers Capital and Income Fund, is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company.
INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The Fund's investment objective is total return with an emphasis on income.
FUND STRATEGY: Under normal market conditions, the Fund intends to invest at least 80% of managed assets in a broad range of equity and fixed income securities of U.S. and foreign issuers. It may invest up to 15% of managed assets in illiquid securities. The fund may use leverage through borrowing, including loans from certain financial institutions, the use of mortgage dollar roll transactions and reverse repurchase agreements, and the issuance of debt securities, and possibly through the issuance of preferred shares, in an aggregate amount of up to about 33% of total assets immediately after such borrowings and/or issuances. However, the Fund may not use leverage at all times, and the amount of leverage may vary. In addition, the fund may invest a portion of its managed assets in fixed income securities generally considered to have a credit quality rated below investment grade. The Fund's investment approach is designed to offer potential for total return performance similar to that of the S&P 500 over the longer term. The fund will vary its allocation between equity and fixed income securities depending on the investment manager's view of economic, market or political conditions, fiscal and monetary policy, and security valuations. Depending on the manager's view, which may vary over time, the manager may allocate substantially all investments to equity or to fixed income securities.
FUND MANAGEMENT: The Fund is advised by Legg Mason Partners Fund Advisor, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Franklin Resources, Inc.. (NYSE: BEN) and is sub-advised by ClearBridge Advisors, LLC, Western Asset Management Company, and Western Asset Management Company Limited, affiliates of the adviser.
