Fund Description: ALPS Medical Breakthroughs ETF is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of ALPS ETF Trust, an open-end investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The ALPS Medical Breakthroughs ETF seeks investment results that correspond, before fees and expenses, generally to the price and yield performance of the Poliwogg Medical Breakthroughs Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Poliwogg Medical Breakthroughs Index is comprised of small- and mid-cap stocks of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies that have one or more drugs in either Phase II or Phase III U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical trials. In a Phase II trial, the drug is administered to a group of 100-300 people to see if it is effective and to evaluate its safety. In a Phase III trial, the drug is given to a larger group, between 500-3,000 people, to confirm its effectiveness, monitor side effects, compare it to commonly used treatments and collect information that will allow the drug or treatment to be used safely. Stocks selected for inclusion in the Index must be listed on a U.S. stock exchange. Index constituents must have a market capitalization of no less than $200 million and no more than $5 billion. Stocks included in the Index must also sustain an average daily trading volume in excess of $1 million for the 90-day period preceding an Index reconstitution and must be able to sustain the monthly rates at which they use shareholder capital (cash burn rates) for at least 24 months. The Index uses a modified capitalization weighting methodology. The Index is reconstituted semi-annually and the stocks in the Index are reviewed and rebalanced on the third Friday of the last month of each calendar quarter. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund employs a passive management or indexing investment approach designed to track the performance of the Index. The Fund will normally invest at least 80% of its net assets in securities that comprise the Index (or depositary receipts based on such securities). The Fund generally will invest in all of the securities that comprise the Index in proportion to their weightings in the Index; however, under various circumstances, it may not be possible or practicable to purchase all of the securities in the Index in those weightings. In those circumstances, the Fund may purchase a sample of the securities in the Index or utilize various combinations of other available investment techniques in seeking performance which corresponds to the performance of the Index. FUND MANAGEMENT: ALPS Advisors, Inc. serves as the investment adviser to the Fund.
