Fund Description: First Trust Indxx NextG ETF, formerly First Trust Nasdaq Smartphone Index Fund, formerly First Trust NASDAQ OMX CEA Smartphone Index Fund, is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of the First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund II, an investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The First Trust Indxx NextG ETF seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield, before the Fund's fees and expenses, of the Indxx 5G & NextG Thematic Index, formerly Nasdaq CTA Smartphone Index, formerly NASDAQ OMX CEA Smartphone Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Indxx 5G & NextG Thematic Index is designed to track the performance of companies that have devoted, or have committed to devote, material resources to the research, development and application of fifth generation (5G) and next generation digital cellular technologies as they emerge. By utilizing higher frequency radio waves, 5G networks enable significantly increased data rates, reduced latency and high-density connections that were previously unavailable in preceding technological generations. The equity securities comprising the Index may include common stock, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and depositary receipts issued by small, mid and large capitalization companies operating in both developed and emerging market countries. Companies comprising the Telecommunications Service Providers sub-theme are those companies that operate the mobile cellular and wireless communication networks that offer public access to 5G networks. The Index ranks all eligible securities based upon their market capitalization and selects the 100 securities with the largest market capitalizations for inclusion. The Index is rebalanced and reconstituted semi-annually. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its net assets (including investment borrowings) in the common stocks and depositary receipts that comprise the Index. The Fund, using an indexing investment approach, attempts to replicate the Index. FUND MANAGEMENT: First Trust Advisors L.P. serves as investment advisor to the Fund.
