Fund Description: Aberdeen Japan Equity Fund, Inc., formerly Japan Equity Fund, Inc., is an exchange-traded closed-end fund (CEF) or a closed-end ETF that is officially described as a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The Aberdeen Japan Equity Fund, Inc. seeks to outperform over the long term, on a total return basis (including appreciation and dividends), the Tokyo Stock Price Index TOPIX a composite market-capitalization weighted index of all common stocks listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). FUND STRATEGY: The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing substantially all of its assets, but under normal circumstances at least 80% of its assets, in equity securities of companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange or listed on the over-the-counter market in Japan or listed on other stock exchanges in Japan.
