Fund Description: iShares Genomics Immunology and Healthcare ETF is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of the iShares Trust, an open-end investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The iShares Genomics Immunology and Healthcare ETF seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the NYSE FactSet Global Genomics and Immuno Biopharma Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The NYSE FactSet Global Genomics and Immuno Biopharma Index measures the performance of equity securities issued by companies in the biopharmaceutical and healthcare equipment and services industries that could benefit from the long-term growth and innovation in genomics, immunology and bioengineering. The Index is composed of equity securities primarily listed in one of 43 developed and emerging market countries. Companies must have equal to or greater than 50% of their revenue from one or more selected Level 6 industries. The FactSet Revere Business Industry Classification System (RBICS), includes biopharmaceutical industries, healthcare equipment industries, and healthcare services industries. Companies selected from these industries are assigned a Genomics and Immuno Biopharma Composite Relationship Keyword score. To compute a Score for a company the Index Provider, ICE Data Indices, LLC searches the Supply Chain Relationships database for keywords related to genomics and immunology products and technologies. A Score is provided to each company identified in the database search based on the number of relationships a company has to genomics and immunology products. The top 50 companies with the highest Scores are selected for inclusion in the Index. The Index will be reviewed and reconstituted annually. Constituent weights of the Index are determined according to float-adjusted market capitalization and are rebalanced semi-annually. Individual constituents are capped at 4% of the Index. The Index may include large-, mid- or small-capitalization companies. FUND STRATEGY: A passive or indexing approach is used to try to achieve the Fund's investment objective. Unlike many investment companies the Fund does not try to beat the Index and does not seek temporary defensive positions when markets decline or appear overvalued. Indexing may eliminate the chance that the Fund will substantially outperform its Index but also may reduce some of the risks of active management, such as poor security selection. Indexing seeks to achieve lower costs and better after-tax performance by keeping portfolio turnover low in comparison to actively managed investment companies. Representative sampling is an indexing strategy that is used which involves investing in a representative sample of securities that collectively has an investment profile similar to the Index. The securities selected are expected to have, in the aggregate, investment characteristics (based on factors such as market capitalization and industry weightings), fundamental characteristics (such as return variability and yield) and liquidity measures similar to those of the Index. A Fund may or may not hold all of the securities in the Index. The Fund generally invests at least 90% of its assets in securities of the Index and in depositary receipts representing securities of the Index. The Fund may invest up to 10% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents, including shares of money market funds. The Fund may lend securities representing up to one-third of the value of the Fund's total assets (including the value of the collateral received). During the first year of its operations, the Fund may not be able to purchase or gain exposure to certain of the component securities in the Index or may hold fewer of or have less exposure to such securities than contemplated by the Index. FUND MANAGEMENT: BlackRock Fund Advisors (BFA) serves as the investment adviser to the Fund.
