Fund Description: iShares Cohen & Steers REIT ETF, formerly iShares Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Index Fund, is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF which is a separate investment portfolio of the iShares Trust, an open-end investment management company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The iShares Cohen & Steers REIT ETF seeks investment results that correspond to the performance of large, actively traded U.S. real estate investment trusts as represented by the Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Index consists of selected REITs. The objective of the Index is to represent relatively large and liquid REITs that may benefit from future consolidation and securitization of the U.S. real estate industry. Within the REIT market, the Index is diversified across property sectors that represent the current market. The Index is modified capitalization-weighted with constituent companies having a maximum index weight of 8%. The universe of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) is first screened for market capitalization and liquidity requirements. To be eligible for inclusion, a REIT must have a minimum market capitalization of $500 million and a minimum of 600,000 shares traded per month. The investment committee determines the final 30 constituents based on a rigorous review process. Criteria for inclusion include: the quality of the portfolio of property, sector and geographic diversification, strong management, sound capital structure and a dominant position within a property sector. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund uses a passive or indexing approach to try to achieve the Fund’s investment objective. The Fund does not try to beat the Index it tracks and does not seek temporary defensive positions when markets decline or appear overvalued. The Fund will invest at least 90% of its assets in the securities of the Index. The Fund may invest the remainder of its assets in securities not included in its Index, but which the Advisor believes will help the Fund track its Index. The Fund also may invest its other assets in futures contracts, options on futures contracts, options, and swaps related to the Index, as well as cash and cash equivalents, including shares of money market funds affiliated with the Advisor. FUND MANAGEMENT: BlackRock Fund Advisors serves as the investment adviser to the Fund.
