Fund Description: The Hartford Income Shares Fund, Inc. is a closed-end diversified management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The primary investment objective of the fund is to seek a high level of current income. Capital appreciation is a secondary objective. FUND STRATEGY: The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective through investment in a diversified portfolio of debt securities, some of which may be privately placed and some of which may have equity features. DIVIDEND PAYMENTS: The Fund distributes income dividends to shareholders on a monthly basis and capital gains, if any, on an annual basis. FUND MANAGEMENT: The fund's investment advisor is Hartford Investment Financial Services LLC (HIFSCO). As adviser for the Fund, HIFSCO has retained Hartford Investment Management Company to provide investment advice and, in general, to conduct the management investment program of the Fund, subject to the general control of HIFSCO and the Fund's Board of Directors. Pursuant to the sub-advisory agreement, Hartford Investment will regularly provide the Fund with investment research, advice and supervision and furnish an investment program consistent with the Fund's investment objectives and policies, including the purchase, retention and disposition of securities.
