BUSINESS: UBS ETRAC 6-Month S&P VIX Futures Exchange Traded Note (ETN) due September 6, 2041 are senior unsecured medium-term notes, debt securities issued by UBS AG who is offering and selling the series of Exchange Traded Access Securities (ETRACS). INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The UBS ETRACS 6-Month S&P VIX Futures ETN seeks to provides exposure to the daily performance of the S&P 500 VIX 6-Month Futures Index TR, less the Tracking Fee. This ETN should be purchased only by knowledgeable investors who understand the effects of daily resets and the negative carry associated with the VIX Futures. The ETN is not intended to be a buy and hold investment. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The S&P 500 VIX 6-Month Futures Index TR is a total return index and is composed of futures contracts on the CBOE Volatility Index (the VIX Index). The VIX Index is calculated based on prices of put and call options on the S&P 500 Index in the two closest nearby months from which 30-day forward volatility is derived. Futures on the VIX Index provide investors the ability to invest in forward volatility based on their view of the future direction of movement of the VIX Index. The Index is a rolling Index, which rolls on a daily basis according to a pre-determined schedule that has the effect of keeping constant the weighted average maturity of the underlying futures contracts. RETURNS AND MATURITY: The return on the ETRACS ETNs, which may be positive or negative, is directly linked to the level of the Index, which, in turn, is intended to reflect the returns that are potentially available through an unleveraged investment in futures contracts on the VIX Index having a constant weighted average maturity of six months, plus a daily fixed-income return, which reflects the interest earned on a hypothetical 91-day Treasury Bill portfolio theoretically deposited as margin for hypothetical positions in the futures contracts comprising the Index. For each Security, unless earlier redeemed, called or accelerated, you will receive at maturity a cash payment equal to the Current Principal Amount of your Security on the Final Valuation Date. REDEMPTION AND FEES: Upon early redemption, you may elect to require UBS to redeem your Securities, in whole or in part, on any Redemption Date prior to the Maturity Date, subject to the minimum redemption amount of 25,000 Securities and to your compliance with the procedures, you will receive per Security a cash payment on the relevant Redemption Date equal to the Current Principal Amount as of the applicable Valuation Date, minus the Redemption Fee Amount. Notes: August 31, 2012 -- UBS Announces Redemption of ETRACS Long S&P 500 VIX Futures ETNs and ETRACS Daily Short S&P 500 VIX Futures ETNs. The Call Settlement Date for the Affected Securities shall be September 12, 2012. With respect to each series of Affected Securities, the Call Settlement Amount will be the Current Principal Amount of such series as of September 7, 2012. UBS AG will pay investors holding Affected Securities as of 5:00 p.m., New York time, on September 12, 2012, the applicable Call Settlement Amount.
