Jan. 30, 2006 -- HSBC Finance announced today that it will call all 8,000,000 shares of its Household Capital Trust VI 8 1/4% Junior Subordinated Deferrable Interest Notes due January 30, 2031 (NYSE: HIPRF, CUSIP 44180T205). The redemption price for each issue will be $25 plus accrued interest to the redemption date, that in each case will be March 13, 2006. The final payment on the Household Capital Trust VI 8 1/4% Notes will be made by J.P. Morgan Trust Company, National Association and only upon presentation and surrender of your Note(s) at the office of the J.P. Morgan Trust Company, National Association.

(NYSE: HI), redeemable at the issuer's option on or after 1/30/2006 at $25 per share plus accrued an unpaid dividends, maturing 1/30/2031, distributions of 8 1/4% ($2.0625) per annum are paid quarterly on 1/30, 4/30, 7/30 & 10/30 to holders of record one business day prior to the payment date while the securities remain in book-entry form. The company has the right, at any time, to defer dividend payments for up to 20 consecutive quarters (but not beyond the maturity date). The trust's assets consist of the 8 1/4% Junior Subordinated Deferrable Interest Notes due 1/30/2031 which were purchased from the company using the funds generated from the sale of the trust preferred securities.
