(NYSE: SO), redeemable at the issuer's option on or after 1/16/2002 at $25 per share, maturing 12/31/2036, distributions are paid quarterly on 3/31, 6/30, 9/30 & 12/31. The company has the right, at any time, to defer interest payments for up to 20 consecutive quarters (see prospectus for extensive details). The trust will use their funds from the sale of the preferred securities to purchase from the company the Series B 7.60% Junior Subordinated Deferrable Interest Notes due 2036.
