Dec. 22, 2004 -- Edison Mission Energy (EME) today announced that it intends to redeem on January 25, 2005, all of the Mission Capital, L.P. 9 7/8% Cumulative Monthly Income Preferred Securities, Series A (the "Series A MIPS") (NYSE: ME-PrA, CUSIP 605034206) and 8 1/2% Cumulative Monthly Income Preferred Securities, Series B (the "Series B MIPS") (NYSE ME-PrB, CUSIP 605034305) for a redemption price of 100% of the principal amount, plus accrued interest to the redemption date. The par value of each of the Series A MIPS and Series B MIPS is $25.00. The MIPS are listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

QUANTUMONLINE.COM SECURITY DESCRIPTION: Mission Capital L.P., 8 1/2% Cumulative Monthly Income Preferred Securities, Series B (MIPS), liquidation preference $25, guaranteed by Edison Mission Energy, a subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), redeemable at the issuer's option on or after 8/08/2000 at $25 per share plus accrued and unpaid dividends, maturing 2025, distributions are paid monthly. The company has the right, at any time, to defer interest payments for up to 60 consecutive months. The partnership will use the funds from the sale of the preferred securities to purchase the Edison Mission Energy 8 1/2% Junior Subordinated Deferrable Interest Debentures due 2025. Mission Capital L.P. is owned by and is the limited partner of Edison Mission Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), the holding company of Southern California Edison Co.
