Sept. 14, 2004 -- Citigroup Inc. today announced that on October 14, 2004 it will redeem for cash all its Citigroup Capital VI 6 7/8% Trust Preferred Securities (TRUPS, NYSE Ticker C X). The redemption price will be $25.00 per Preferred Security plus accrued distributions to but excluding the date of redemption. Currently, $600 million of such TRUPS are outstanding.

QUANTUMONLINE.COM SECURITY DESCRIPTION: Citigroup Capital VI, 6 7/8% Capital Securities (TRUPS), liquidation amount $25 per share, guaranteed by Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C), redeemable at the issuer's option on or after 3/15/2004 at $25 per share plus accrued and unpaid dividends, maturing 3/15/2029, distributions of 6 7/8% per annum are paid quarterly on 2/15, 5/15. 8/15 & 11/15 to holders of record one business day prior to the payment date while the securities remain in book-entry form. The company has the right, at any time, to defer dividend payments for up to 20 consecutive quarters (but not beyond the maturity date). The trust's assets consist of the 6 7/8% Junior Subordinated Deferrable Interest Debentures due 3/15/2029 which were purchased from the company using the funds generated from the sale of the trust preferred securities.
