FUND DESCRIPTION: Van Kampen California Quality Municipal Trust is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Trust's investment objective is to provide a high level of current income exempt from federal and California income taxes consistent with preservation of capital. The Trust will invest in a portfolio consisting substantially of California municipal obligations rated investment grade at the time of investment, but may invest up to 20% of its assets in unrated securities which are believed to be of comparable quality to those rated investment grade. The Fund's investment advisor is Van Kampen Investment Advisory Corp., now a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS).

Notes: Aug. 1, 2005 -- Van Kampen Asset Management announced today that the proposed reorganization of Van Kampen California Quality Municipal Trust (NYSE/CHX: VQC) into Van Kampen California Value Municipal Income Trust (NYSE/CHX: VCV) has been completed. In the reorganization, shareholders of VQC received newly issued shares of VCV. The conversion exchange rate (the rate by which one multiplies the amount of VQC common shares to determine the number of VCV common shares issued as part of the reorganization) was 0.976400, and the exchange ratio between preferred shares of VQC and preferred shares of VCV was one VQC preferred share into one VCV preferred share.
