Dec. 15, 2003 -- Occidental Petroleum Corporation announced today that on January 20, 2004, it intends to redeem all of its outstanding 8.16% Subordinated Deferrable Interest Notes Due 2039. This redemption will result in the simultaneous mandatory redemption by Oxy Capital Trust I of its outstanding 8.16% Trust Originated Preferred Securities (CUSIP 692070204) (NYSE:OXYPRB). The redemption price will be $25.00 per Trust Originated Preferred Security plus accrued and unpaid distributions to the redemption date.

QUANTUMONLINE.COM SECURITY DESCRIPTION: Oxy Capital Trust I, 8.16% Trust Originated Preferred Securities (TOPrS), liquidation amount $25 per share, guaranteed by Occidential Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY), redeemable at the issuer's option on or after 1/20/2004 at $25 per share plus accrued and unpaid dividends, maturing 1/20/2039, distributions of 8.16% per annum are paid quarterly on 3/31, 6/30, 9/30 & 12/31 to holders of record one business day prior to the payment date while the securities remain in book-entry form. The company has the right, at any time, to defer interest payments for up to 20 consecutive quarters (but not beyond the maturity date). The trust's assets consist of the 8/16% Subordinated Deferrable Interest Debentures due 1/20/2039 which were purchased from the company using the funds generated from the sale of the trust preferred securities.
