FUND DESCRIPTION: Colonial Insured Municipal Fund is a nondiversified, closed-end management investment company that seeks, as its investment objective, to provide current income generally exempt from regular federal income tax. The Fund will invest its assets in a nondiversified portfolio of municipal bonds that are generally exempt from regular federal income tax. Under normal circumstances, the Fund will invest at least 80% of its total assets in debt securities that are consistent with its objective of tax-exempt current income. At least 65% of the Fund's total assets will normally be invested in Municipal Obligations that are covered by insurance guaranteeing the timely payment of principal at maturity and interest. At least 80% of the Fund's net assets will normally be invested in Municipal Obligations rated at least investment grade at the time of investment, or bonds that are unrated but judged to be of comparable quality by the Fund's investment advisor. Columbia Management Advisors, Inc. is the investment advisor of the Fund and also provides administrative and other services to the Fund.
