FUND DESCRIPTION: The Malaysia Fund, Inc. is an exchange-traded closed-end fund or a closed-end ETF which is officially described as a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The Fund's investment objective is long-term capital appreciation. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund seeks to achieve its objective through investments primarily in equity securities of Malayian corporations. Under normal circumstances, at least 80% of the Fund's net assets will be invested in equity securities of Malaysian incorporated companies listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. The remainder will normally be invested in debt securities of Malaysian companies, short-term debt securities of the Malaysian government, and in Malaysian money market instruments, as well as in dollar-denominated debt securities of U.S. issuers. The Fund's benchmark is the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) Composite Index expressed in U.S. dollars, a broad based capitalization weight index of 100 stocks listed on the exchange, including dividends. FUND MANAGEMENT: The Fund's investment advisor is Morgan Stanley Investment Advisors Inc. Morgan Stanley Investment Management is the asset management division of Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS). Assets are managed by teams representing different MSIM legal entities with offices in New York, Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago, London, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Singapore and Mumbai.

Notes: The Malaysia Fund, Inc. (NYSE: MAY) announced today that it will close its share register books at the close of business on August 17, 2012 and that trading of the Fund’s stock on the NYSE will cease on August 20, 2012. The proportionate interests of stockholders in the assets of the Fund shall be fixed on the basis of their respective holdings at the close of business on the Effective Date, and the Fund expects to make a final liquidating distribution to stockholders on or about August 24, 2012.
